Asian Eyelid Surgery

The goal of Asian eyelid surgery is not to “westernize” the eyelids, but instead is performed to accentuate and enhance Asian eyelid ethnic features. Dr. Truong’s specialized blepharoplasty techniques result in a natural-appearing double Asian eyelid that looks less tired, while reducing puffiness. The final result is an overall "brighter" appearance to the eyes. Dr. Truong’s vast experience, meticulous technique, and attention to detail means you can feel confident about enjoying a safe, symmetric result with minimal bleeding, bruising and downtime.

Asian Eyelid Surgery Expertise & Artistry

Dr. Truong trained directly under Dr. Jung Park, a world-renowned expert on Asian eyelid surgery and inventor of the "Z-epicanthopexy,” to learn the latest surgical techniques used in blepharoplasty. In addition to his expertise specifically in double eyelid surgery, Dr. Truong is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. He has completed a competitive American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship and a full year apprenticeship in aesthetic plastic surgery. Dr. Truong was also voted one of America’s Top Surgeons by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.

Get a Comprehensive
Asian Eyelid Surgery Consultation

Dr. Truong offers a thorough and comprehensive consultation where you can get the details on all of your cosmetic options. He’ll take the time to answer each and every one of your questions.

What to Expect

Double eyelid surgery differs from a standard eyelid lift because the anatomy of the Asian eye is different in significant ways. Typically, Asian blepharoplasty is performed to create a more defined upper eyelid crease that still honors your naturally ethnic appearance. Asian eyelid surgery can also help eyes look less puffy, sleepy or hooded.

Your Consultation

At your consultation, Dr. Truong will discuss your goals for the procedure so that he has a better understanding of the final results you hope to achieve. He’ll also go into more detail about how you should get ready for your surgery, the steps he’ll take during the procedure and what to expect during your recovery.

Preparing for Your Asian Eyelid Surgery

There are several different techniques Dr. Truong may use when performing double eyelid surgery. The question of which method will work best for you depends on your preferences and ideal outcome as well as your anatomy and Dr. Truong’s personal recommendation. Asian eyelid surgery is normally performed under local anesthesia, so you can expect to head home the same day as your procedure.

Recovery & Results

It’s normal for your eyes to feel swollen or tight right after your double eyelid surgery, and you should avoid wearing contacts for at least a week. Dr. Truong recommends sleeping with your head elevated an upward angle for the first few nights to help reduce swelling. Residual bruising can usually be disguised easily with makeup after the first several days, and your results will appear gradually over time. It’s important to remember that the appearance and placement of your upper eyelid crease will continue to develop and refine over time for a final result that looks flattering and natural.
