For best results, you only need 1-3 sessions, compared to 6-8 with other IPL devices. The exact number of sessions will depend on your severity of skin damage and skin type. Multiple sessions provide improved results.

During treatment, you will experience a bright flash of light which produces a sensation similar to a light rubber band snap. Most patients find the treatment to be tolerable and relatively painless.

To prepare for your treatment, you should avoid skin irritation one month prior such as direct sun exposure, sunbathing, or tanning. Additionally, you should:

• Stop the use of irritant topical products 1 week before your treatment. This includes retinol and tretinoin.
• Stop the use of photosensitizing medications (antibiotics).
• Stop the use of Accutane for 6 months.
• Stop the use of self tanners on the face for 1 week and 2 weeks on the body.
• Arrive to your appointment with clean skin (no makeup, lotions, perfume, jewelry or other skin products on the area being treated).

This treatment may become a little uncomfortable if used at a higher setting, but a topical numbing cream and cooling device will be provided to help with any discomfort during your treatment.

Since IPL by Lumecca does not injure or puncture the skin, there is no downtime following the treatment. Immediately after your procedure, you may apply makeup, moisturizer, or a broad-spectrum SPF if needed.

Following your treatment, you can expect redness and slight warming of the skin. This usually subsides within a few hours. Over the next week, pigmented spots may darken, pigmented lesions may flake off, and vascular lesions may change color. This is all normal, leading to a more even skin tone.

You may begin to see results directly after your first treatment. Skin complexion and sun damage results can be seen within a few days after your first treatment. Your skin will look younger and more radiant after 1-2 weeks. Vascular treatment results can be seen within 2 weeks of treatment.

The cost of your IPL treatment can range between $250 to $2600 depending on what areas, and how many, need treatment.  We customize each treatment plan to each individual patient.
