The Sculptra Post-Care Process
Massage
Follow the 5-5-5 rule: 5 minutes 5 times per day For 5 days after treatment. This encourages even distribution of the product and supports the collagen stimulation process. Our Chicago Aesthetics providers recommend pairing your massage with a medical-grade skincare product such as Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar with TriHex Technology, which helps support healing and collagen renewal.
Ice for Swelling
During the first 24 hours, apply an ice pack or a clean cloth-wrapped pack of frozen peas to the treated areas. Never place ice directly on your skin, as this can cause irritation or even frostbite. Ten-minute intervals are ideal for reducing swelling and calming sensitivity.
Makeup and Skincare
If your skin looks calm and free of complications, you can apply makeup a few hours after your injections. Choose mineral-based products when possible, and always make sure your hands and brushes are clean to avoid irritation.
Sun and Heat Exposure
Avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds, and UV sunlamps until redness and swelling have completely resolved. Chicago weather may not always invite tanning, but UV exposure can still compromise healing-even on cloudy days. Daily use of a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher is strongly recommended.
