What to Expect
Although sweating is a normal and necessary function of the human body, some men and women notice that their sweat glands are constantly overproducing moisture. This can lead to personal and professional embarrassment, especially if the symptoms of hyperhidrosis fail to respond to other treatments. The best candidates for PrecisionTX™ laser hyperhidrosis treatment are men or women who experience high stress, physical discomfort, or other anxiety related to excessive sweating.
At your consultation with Dr. Truong, he will ask questions about your medical history that are specifically related to past hyperhidrosis diagnosis and treatments. In addition to a physical evaluation, Dr. Truong will also discuss your hopes for the procedure and make sure that your expectations are realistic. Finally, he’ll go over what to expect during your appointment and recovery, as well as the results you can expect to see.
Preparing for Your Hyperhidrosis Treatment
The PrecisionTX™ laser hyperhidrosis treatment is an outpatient procedure that typically takes about an hour to perform. First, Dr. Truong uses a local anesthetic to numb the underarm area before making a tiny incision. Through this access point, he can insert the fiber that delivers laser energy directly to the sweat glands, ablating them. After your appointment, you can simply return home and go back to your normal routine.
Recovery & Results
You can expect some minor discomfort right after your surgery, but this should dissipate quickly. Swelling may last for about a week. Sweating in the underarm area may temporarily return for a few months before returning to a much lower baseline than before your treatment.
Unlike hyperhidrosis treatment with BOTOX®, laser hyperhidrosis treatment is a solution that delivers long-term results. Repeat sessions aren’t typically needed, and most patients report a significant improvement in their overall quality of life.
