Rhinoplasty Surgery
What is
Rhinoplasty
A nose that feels out of proportion or interferes with breathing can affect more than appearance. Rhinoplasty addresses these concerns through a single procedure. At Chicago Aesthetics Surgery & Med Spa in Chicago and Glenview, Dr. John D. Rachel combines surgical precision with deep experience in facial anatomy to help patients achieve a nose that functions well and fits their features.
Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that modifies the nasal structure. It may involve reducing a hump, reshaping the tip, straightening the bridge, narrowing the nostrils, or correcting internal blockages that impair airflow.
Patients often choose rhinoplasty to improve the appearance, function, or both of their noses. It’s also commonly paired with other facial procedures, such as chin augmentation, to improve facial balance.
Who Should
Consider Rhinoplasty?
- Are at least 16 years old and have finished facial growth
- Are healthy and free from active nasal or sinus infections
- Do not smoke or are willing to pause smoking during healing
- Have realistic goals and clear reasons for wanting surgery

What to Expect
During Rhinoplasty
Surgical Approach
Rhinoplasty is typically performed using either an open or closed technique:
- Open rhinoplasty involves a small incision between the nostrils, allowing full access to the nasal structure.
- Closed rhinoplasty uses internal incisions and avoids visible scars, best suited for more limited reshaping.
The choice depends on the type of correction needed. Surgery usually lasts two to three hours under general anesthesia. Patients go home the same day.
In some cases, rhinoplasty is performed alongside eyelid surgery or other facial plastic procedures to address multiple concerns in a single session.
Recovery After
Rhinoplasty
While most swelling improves within the first month, subtle changes continue for several months as tissues settle. We provide clear recovery instructions and schedule follow-up visits to monitor your healing.
Benefits of
Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty offers more than cosmetic improvement. Common benefits include:
- Better balance between nose and facial features
- A smoother or more refined nasal shape
- Improved nasal breathing
- Correction of injuries or deformities
- Long-term confidence in your appearance
Many patients report feeling more comfortable in photos and everyday interactions after healing.
What is the Cost of
Rhinoplasty
The cost of rhinoplasty depends on the extent of the procedure and whether additional surgeries, such as septoplasty, are performed at the same time. After your consultation, we’ll provide a personalized cost breakdown and review your payment options.
