Dr. John D. Rachel, MD, FACS is a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He is quadruple board-certified in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery. He completed residency training in Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at Wayne State/Detroit Medical Center and a Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the Beeson Cosmetic Surgery Institute. He has been in practice since 2001, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and has published peer-reviewed research in facial plastic surgery and skin rejuvenation.

The number of chemical peel treatments will depend on your skin concern. Your provider will develop a plan that works for you.

What do chemical peels help treat?
How long does a chemical peel take?
What is the downtime after a chemical peel?
There is little to no downtime following your chemical peel treatment. You may experience redness, sensitivity and some mild flaking following your treatment. This can last for a few days.
- Do not wear make-up the day of the treatment
- Apply moisturizer 1-2 times daily to help decrease the appearance of flaking
- Do not pick or peel any flaking skin to avoid hyperpigmentation
- Avoid any topical or over-the-counter medications up to 1 week following your treatment to minimize irritation
