You may also see it called vaginal lightening, vaginal bleaching, or intimate bleaching. The names differ, but they describe the same goal: a lighter, more even tone in delicate areas where pigmentation naturally runs darker.

Everyone’s intimate anatomy is unique, and there is nothing unnatural or unhealthy about having a darker color in these areas. Intimate lightening is not a correction of a problem. It is a personal aesthetic choice, and it deserves the same careful, judgment-free consultation as any other treatment at Chicago Aesthetics.

Treatment Options

Chicago Aesthetics offers two intimate lightening options. Your provider will recommend the right one, based on your skin, your goals, and your comfort level.

MOXI Laser Treatment

MOXI is a non-ablative fractional laser that reduces hyperpigmentation, is safe for all skin types, and delivers results with minimal downtime. It operates at a 1,927 nm wavelength that targets water in the upper layers of the skin rather than melanin directly. Each session creates microscopic treatment zones that lift pigment toward the surface, where it exfoliates away naturally over roughly 5 to 7 days. Initial superficial brightness is typically visible after that first week of healing.

Full results build progressively over a series of 2 to 4 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Because intimate skin carries a higher density of pigment-producing cells and experiences constant friction, laser settings are kept deliberately conservative to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. That caution is exactly why this treatment belongs in a physician-supervised medical practice. To keep results after the series, a maintenance treatment is typically recommended every 4 to 6 months.

Prescription Lightening Cream

The second option is a prescription lightening cream, a gentle topical tyrosinase inhibitor applied twice a week at home. It works by slowing the enzyme that drives new pigment production, and pairing it with the laser series is a large part of what makes results durable. Because it requires a prescription from our medical team, your skin is evaluated before you start, and your progress is followed at the practice rather than guessed at alone.

What to Expect

No special preparation is required before a laser session. Avoid shaving or waxing the treatment area for 48 hours before your appointment. Afterward, mild redness may occur for 24 to 48 hours. During that window, avoid friction and sun exposure in the treated area.

Intimate lightening addresses pigmentation only. If you are also thinking about vaginal laxity, dryness, or other feminine wellness concerns, Chicago Aesthetics offers vaginal rejuvenation, FormaV, and Morpheus8V treatments. Those address different concerns and are often discussed in the same consultation.

Intimate Lightening CANDIDATES

Good candidates are adults who would simply prefer a lighter, more even tone in the intimate area. There is no medical need driving this treatment, and there does not have to be. A personal preference is reason enough, as long as your expectations are realistic.

One scope point worth stating plainly: laser intimate lightening treats external cutaneous skin only. That includes the outer labia majora, the bikini line, the mons pubis, and the groin creases. It is never used on mucosal tissue, meaning the vaginal canal or the sensitive inner labia minora. If a provider anywhere offers to laser those areas, that is a reason to leave, not a reason to book.

It is also worth knowing that MOXI is FDA-cleared for dermatological skin resurfacing and the treatment of pigmented lesions, and it has been most extensively studied on the face, neck, and chest. Its use in the intimate area is an off-label aesthetic application. Off-label use of cleared devices is a routine part of medical practice, and it is one more reason this treatment should happen under physician supervision, where candidacy, settings, and aftercare are decided by a medical team familiar with intimate anatomy.

The MOXI laser is safe for all skin types, so most patients are candidates for at least one of the two options. Your consultation covers your skin, your health history, and your timeline. And if intimate lightening is not the right fit for what you actually want to change, your provider will say so. At Chicago Aesthetics, the consult is a diagnosis, not a pitch.

The cost of intimate lightening at Chicago Aesthetics Surgery & Med Spa depends on the option you choose and the plan built for your skin. MOXI laser intimate lightening is $750 per session, and the prescription lightening cream is $180 per bottle. The number of sessions you need is personalized, so you will get exact numbers for your plan at your consultation, before you commit to anything.

Consultations are $250 in person and $150 virtual, and if you move forward with treatment, your consultation fee is applied toward your treatment cost. We also offer financing options to spread the cost over time.
